In light of Valentine's Day this year I thought I'd get a little personal, share a few tidbits about me, my life and family. So I wrote down 5 questions I wouldn't mind hearing the answers to from other people and decided to try to answer them myself. I hope it puts a smile on your face and reminds you of a few things you love in your life today.
1. What is your favorite food? Without a doubt my answer to this question was always cookies. But recently I've been very much into making home made bread. I love enhancing my sourdough starter, even before I begin baking, and then experimenting with different flours - rye, spelt, brown rice, garbanzo bean etc. And the best part is when it comes out of the oven. Placing it on a beautiful cutting board and slicing into the warm crusty bread. So delicious and satisfying. You? What is your favorite food? 2. What is your favorite form of exercise? Hmmm this would really have to be a tie between yoga and hikes in the hills near my home. I am fairly new to yoga, I've only been doing it consistently for a couple of years now, but I found a couple of very good teachers who helped guide me, and now I am hooked. I also really love to get outdoors and head into the hills with my dog Morris. There is nothing like running up those hills, totally out of breath wondering if you can make it to the top, and then when you do, oh...the beauty. Overlooking the city of LA is pretty cool. You? What is your favorite form of exercise? 3. I am happiest when...? I am always happiest when my guy and my kids are around me. We don't even need to be doing the same thing. As long as we are all together, that is wonderful. But if I had to be more specific, well then, that would be maybe either on a boat, or near, the waters of Cape Cod, WITH all of my family nearby. This is always where I am at my best. You? When are you the most happy? 4. What is your favorite body part? This is a hard one because I don't really have a favorite body part. Honestly, I don't look at my body that way. I guess I could say that I like the way I'm proportioned - does that sound weird? I used to feel my upper body was a lot weaker than my lower body but I think yoga has now helped with that. One thing I do get a bit envious of, when I see them on other women, are eyebrows...ha ha. Cuz I don't have any! Years ago, when I was a professional dancer, I had a make-up artist pluck away at my eyebrows trying to attain a certain look for a runway show I was doing. Well, she plucked waayyyy to much and ever since, I cannot grow eyebrows. Grrrr. But...if that is my only grief, then I'll take it!;-) You? What is your favorite body part? 5. What attracts you to another person? I think what initially attracts me to another person is their honesty and kindness. Can they be real? Can they look me in the eye? Do they not take themselves that seriously? My guy is the best at this. Truly the kindest person I know. My daughters and I have a saying. Here in Los Angeles, I'm sure this isn't the truth, but it often appears that everyone is very much into themselves. Everyone wants to be a star or a celebrity! ;-) (Which BTW, I'm making this disclaimer now. In my book, celebrities are not the same as an actors, musicians or dancers. The words "celebrity" and "star" are stereotypes - labels someone else puts on these artists). Anyway, back to the story... Just the other day my daughters and I were walking down the sidewalk in Santa Monica and a young woman walked straight into my daughter. My daughter saw her coming and had to literally jump to the right, and into both me and my other daughter, to get out of the way. We all looked at each other shocked - like 'really?' This woman kept walking with no apology, probably had no idea what she did. Full honestly here, I told my daughter "Honey, don't you remember? Everyone here in LA thinks they're a celebrity. You don't matter." Ha ha...we all had a good laugh! Probably a terrible thing to say but...come on...let's get real. You? What attracts you to another person? Well, there ya have it, a few tidbits about me during this Valentine's week. I hope it made you smile, or maybe it was just TMI! Either way I hope you have a beautiful Valentine’s Day with your friends and loved ones.
