2016 - A New Year - what is going to happen this year? What are your plans? How's it going so far? For me, I have been feeling a desire to go further with my wellness practice - to dig deeper. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of healthy living, and honestly I could live and learn by it all day long. It truly is my passion, and to teach others the incredible benefits of living a healthy lifestyle is a bonus. But I do not live a healthy lifestyle, or teach others how to live healthfully, out of vanity or a need to have a million followers. I don't eat well to fit into certain size jeans. I live the way I do, and teach others to continually make positive healthy
choices, because it literally could save us from years of debilitating, life altering, painful chronic disease. As a nurse who works with kids and their families with cancer, I have seen horrendous deterioration in health right before my eyes. I have seen the pain a family goes through struggling to keep their child as healthy as possible under such strenuous conditions as chemotherapy and radiation. In my wellness practice I see many with chronic and debilitating conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol, all because of unhealthy food choices and poor lifestyle management. Throughout my years in the health profession, I've seen many benefit from a cleaned up diet and an improved healthy lifestyle. Time and time again I see what a healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications will do. Why is it our tendency to wait until there is dis-ease? Why do we wait until we are feeling terrible with low energy, overweight issues, pain, inflammation, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, or worse - cancer? Why do we wait before we truly make these lifestyle changes for the duration, not just to fit into the most trendy bathing suit for summer? It should not get to this point. People tell me I have great will power to pass up unhealthy foods, but it's not will power at all. It's that I refuse to contribute to the deterioration of my body if I know better. I wish I could better exemplify to you, the reader, just how much of a difference proper food and lifestyle choices can make. When our body is sick we are off track and inflamed and we rely on a pill to make it better, when in fact it just adds fuel to the fire. We have more control than that and we have the power ourselves to heal our bodies. I am not saying never take an antibiotic or other type of medication, sometimes they are necessary, but we can also help ourselves by taking excellent care of our bodies and by being an aid to the solution not the problem.

So for 2016 my goal is to dig deeper. I hope to offer you content that will continually inspire and motivate. I want to get real and continue to help you learn how to take excellent care of yourselves because frankly, no one else will take care of you BUT you. We are our best caretakers, and it is important to embrace that concept. Listen to our bodies, learn from our bodies, and love our bodies. Period. If we want to live a long, beautiful and healthy life, we really have no choice. So...for 2016, why don't we ALL dig a little deeper.
